“The Thing TOWERED Over Me…” author discloses possible Bigfoot encounter outside home

Rookie Bigfoot 1

“My emotions were a mix of obvious fear, concern, and confusion. I’d never seen anything like it. I only told my wife about the encounter. I figured nobody else would believe me.”

An encounter with Bigfoot can be a shocking experience.  However, multiply that by ten if that experience happens outside your own home.  That’s what happened to author Rookie Burwick on a night in late July 2010.  Right outside the back door to his home, Burwick witnessed a large creature in the shadows of the woods around his house.

Burwick resides in Northern Colorado with his wife and five children.  He’s written

stories since childhood and has always been passionate about becoming a professional writer. “I’m a Bigfoot geek, and I like all things horror, except for paranormal. I don’t mind zombies, but I’d take Bigfoot over zombies any day.”

“The weather was nice; full moon, clear skies and it was a warm night.” Stated Burwick “My backyard is nothing but forest that keeps going on forever, see. The area where the encounter occurred is kind of rugged, thick forest. It goes on and covers a lot of ground before ending and a number of hay fields stretch on past it. I was in the back taking care of my dogs one night when I heard a few twigs snap, and a branch or two breaking. Now, obviously, I figured it was just a bear. We have those everywhere here in Colorado.”

The figure stood up and moved away at a fast pace. At that moment, Burwick knew he was not dealing with a bear. “But then, I saw something that I seriously doubt was a bear. It stood pretty high, and it moved quickly. Really, I just caught a glimpse. But, it was enough to tell it wasn’t a bear.”

“The creature, I would have to say, was about eight and a half feet tall. It’s a poor judgment ,but that thing was pretty tall. I myself am over six foot and the thing towered over me, even from the distance it was at.”

After the creature made its way on, Rookie was left shaken with no way to prove what he had just experienced.  “My emotions were a mix of obvious fear, concern, and confusion. I’d never seen anything like it. I only told my wife about the encounter. I figured nobody else would believe me.  I never found anything regarding the thing’s existence afterwards.”

Horror writer Rookie L. Burwick’s new book, “Forest Savages,” is a horror novel revolving a clan of Sasquatch that leave a path of death and destruction in their wake. While the tale itself is fictional Burwick used portions of his own encounter to describe the Sasquatch in his book. “I didn’t hear any footsteps, but I did forget to mention the smell.  That stench was horrible; like the worst body odor ever.  I describe it in my novel as ‘the worst body odor ever, mixed with the scent of wet fur and rotting flesh.’”

Burwick’s new novel tells the story of a fictionalized clan of Bigfoot and lies squarely in the horror fiction genre as made evident by Rookie’s synopsis below:

“When a man’s body is found mangled and half-eaten outside his cabin, everything turns to hell in the small town of Wallace, Idaho. It’s not the everyday bear attack. Something else is terrorizing the countryside.

Nick Gluteere is the man hired to take out the beast. He’s the highest skilled in big game hunting. He and his men are experienced in hunting down large predators.

Nick and his troops begin the hunt right away. They don’t know what they’re looking for, but they know it’s dangerous. The terrible truth is, they’re the ones being hunted.

Soon, he and his men find that there’s more than one beast on the loose. And these beasts are far from what they expected.

An entire army of angry Bigfoot are rising to the top of the food chain. Leaving a path of destruction in their wake, these deadly apes make their way down the mountain, waiting to feast on the townspeople. If Nick and his men don’t stop them soon, mankind will be next to go extinct.”

“Being the Bigfoot whiz I am, I decided to check out this book. What I thought I would get (having lowered my expectations) was a very typical story that would drag on forever. I WAS WRONG. This was fast paced and it really did have you on the edge of your seat all throughout. I totally recommend this book to any Bigfoot horror fan!” ~Amazon review

“Two thumbs up! Really enjoyed it, picked it up and read it till I was completely done! Instead to the usual hide n’ seek Bigfoot story, they were finally passed off!!” ~Amazon review

“The story is fast moving and holds your interest. It is definitely science fiction but it continues to feed those interested in big foot. Those who like horror books would definitely like this book.” ~Amazon review
